How does the Foundation decide who to fund?

Income received from investments in the Northern Rivers Community Foundation Trust is distributed through the annual Grants Program.

  • Our annual Grants Program is advertised in the media and on our website and applications are invited from organisations across the Northern Rivers
  • Application forms are available on line or by contacting our office
  • Applications received are reviewed by the Grants Committee, made up of at least five Board members, which assesses against criteria developed by the Grants Committee
  • The Foundation builds a knowledge base of needs and priorities in our region on an ongoing basis, drawing on information from appropriate community and local government organisations
  • The Grants Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors taking into account donor preferences
  • The Board considers these views and makes the final decision. Pease note that the Board is legally bound to exercise sole discretion about distribution of funds
  • Applicants are advised in writing of the outcome of their application

A streamlined and simplified grant making process makes it easier for organisations to apply for funding. The review process aims to be transparent, fair and accountable.
